2021 EVENT RECAP

December, the month of Christmas, the month of spreading love and doing charity, the last month of the year, the month when the temperature drops to the lowest point and the month where the memories of the year come to an end. Here's an article on what all happened this year. The good ones and the disappointing ones.

2021 was a year we all expected for, due to our wish that the pandemic happening worldwide would come to an end. We were pretty disappointed that it never happened but just brought more variants and more people to leave this world. A lot of things happened this year worldwide. Raging from farmers strike to floods, clogging, forest fire, Taliban, discovery of omicron etc. Even though a lot of bad things happened, a lot of good things happened as well, like the vaccine for covid-19 was successful this year. India was one of the contributors as they developed 2 vaccines, covishield and covacine. India got Miss Universe after 21 year. This December, 3 controversial farm laws were withdrawn by the central government and that was a huge victory for Indian farmers and things went pretty much back to normal as we were able to go to school at least once and meet everyone.

Speaking of school, our school also had lots of new activities and competitions which we didn’t have in our previous years. The houses had new activities each month like article writing where we made articles about floods, national days, international days, festivals etc. we had many individual competitions as well like singing, dancing, Hindi competitions, English competitions, badminton, table tennis etc. and group activities like greenhouse project. We didn’t do these before as everything was a group activity and there were no individual ones. Children started to participate more than the previous year and even though everything was online, everyone was still enjoying it. Overall the participation rate in house activities increased a lot. Unfortunately schools had to close again after reopening due to the increase in bad air quality and pollution.

Now that a new year is starting, I’m pretty sure everyone is back to wishing that this pandemic will end this coming year as I am one of the people who wishes the same. Fortunately for us WHO (world health organization) has declared that the new variant omicron is not as dangerous as covid-19 and only the rate of increase is more. 37.5% of people are fully vaccinated in India and the death count and spread of coronavirus has decreased sharply, so our wishes of this pandemic to go away this coming year may come true.

So from this we could conclude that 2021 was a year filled with surprises which were both good and bad, pandemics and opportunities. This year gave us an opportunity to find 'opportunities in crises'.
